Believe it or not, almost 1 out of 3 Americans are suffering from high blood pressure. This report was actually released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC. If put into perspective, that is roughly 75 million adults who are impacted by this condition.
High blood pressure is otherwise called as hypertension and it significantly boosts your risks of suffering from stroke and heart disease. As a matter of fact, they’re the 5th and top leading causes of deaths in the US. Again, the report came from CDC.
Time to Take Action
Aside from medication, there are several other things that can be done in lowering blood pressure and these include but not limited to:
- Incorporating a healthy diet
- Maintaining good weight
- Avoiding alcoholic beverages
- Reducing stress
- Doing regular exercise and;
- Avoid or quite smoking
Another thing that you can do to prevent high blood pressure is by engaging in yoga exercises. Truth is, yoga can help a person in making 3 major lifestyle changes such as keeping a healthy weight, reducing their stress and engaging in exercise.
Be mindful though as there are standing poses, inversions and back bends that must be avoided if you have hypertension. This is the same reason why it is best to check with your doctor prior to starting yoga exercise.
